Careers for SJ Types: ESTJ, ESFJ, ISTJ, and ISFJ

So you've taken the free career assessment personality test and you want to know what careers will fit you better? If so, you've come to the right place. Based on the empirical work of Isabel Briggs Myers, as well as later research by CelebrityTypes.com, we are pleased to be able to offer you the following overview of typical careers for the four SJ types.

This page shows careers for the four SJ types: ESTJ, ESFJ, ISTJ, and ISFJ. All SJ types have the virtues of dependability, loyalty, practicality, and stability, as well as great organizational talents.

ESTJ Careers

ESTJs have many organizational and leadership abilities and they are genuinely good at organizing people. Their values and ideas about how things should be organized are such that they tend to immediately see how a given challenge should be met. ESTJs dislike bad organization and incompetent slackers and it is not unknown for an ESTJ to administer a fierce round of ass-kicking to anyone who doesn't do their job properly. ESTJs know what they can do and they know what other people need to be doing. They are thorough and they want to see things get done before they rise to meet the next challenge.

ESFJ Careers

ESFJs are naturals at social interaction. They are good listeners and they really want to please, do well, and excel. They are often very popular with their coworkers and they strive to maintain a stable and harmonious presence in the workplace at all times. ESFJs are extremely dependable and they are skilled at juggling the wishes and priorities of many different people at the same time so that they weave it into a greater whole. Any line of work where a considerate and attentive stance is required is well-suited to an ESFJ and vice versa. Because of the ESFJ's kindness, people sometimes think that they are not capable but in fact, nothing could be further from the truth!

ISTJ Careers

ISTJs have an extreme loyalty and perseverance which enables them to rise to the top. An ISTJ can do almost anything as long as they can see the value and merit of it. If an ISTJ does not think a job is sensible, he or she is bound to shy away from it, but with anything they deem worth their while they do it with great tenaciousness and skill. ISTJs like work where they can use their great skill of dependability, organization, and stability to chart a course and then follow that course. In their careers, ISTJs are very valued as business executives and managers and many ISTJs may find themselves headhunted to fill such roles.

ISFJ Careers

ISFJs are very loyal, dependable and hardworking. They feel a great sense of personal responsibility for the job assigned to them as the job is tied up with their Feelings and their self-worth. They excel when they know what the expectations in the workplace are and they see a way to live up to those expections. They can do well both alone and in a group and (though they may not always say so) they dislike distractions. ISFJs don't like to stop until the job is done and they like to do the job by the book. They are considerate and kindhearted and committed to treating others with respect.
